Why Biodiesel?

Biodiesel offers distinct advantages in environmental impact, performance and safety.
Performance and Usage
Biodiesel is especially suited to Australia’s largely sub-tropical climate, and can be blended according to the exact specifications each client requires. After years of commercial and non-commercial use, and over 50 million miles of testing, the National Biodiesel Board (USA) has proven that biodiesel has similar or identical fuel consumption, horsepower, torque and haulage rates as conventional diesel fuel. This allows it to be used effectively across a wide range of industries and applications.
For example, biodiesel can come in blends of anything from B5 (5% biodiesel, 95% petroleum diesel) to B100 (100% biodiesel). Blends up to B20 (20% biodiesel, 80% petroleum diesel) can be used in existing engines with no modifications.
Blends above this threshold can be easily used with only slight modifications to industrial engines. Chemical compounds can also be added to allow optimal performance across a wide variety of climates and terrain, from the Western Australian desert to the Snowy Mountains.
Biodiesel also offers safety and performance advantages. Biodiesel is non-flammable, meaning transportation and storage is easier and safer. It is also biodegradeable, meaning a shipping accident or spill will result in a minimal environmental impact on marine environments.
Biodiesel's superior lubricity ensures optimal engine performance and results in far less wear on the engine than petroleum diesel fuel. It also ignites more quickly in the engine, meaning improved power.
The versatility and flexibility of biodiesel is a major factor in the fuel’s significant increase in usage over the past decade.
